Spotlight on DonSam Wadi – Rolling Into MicroCon 27

San Diego is about to get a little more vibrant, a little more unpredictable, and a lot more fun with the arrival of Guv’nah Donald Caliva and Guv’ness Samantha Speckmeyer, the dynamic duo behind DonSam Wadi and Higher Wadi – two states inside The Republic of Slowjamastan. MicroCon 27: North America is the kind of event where the unexpected is celebrated, and these two bring just that—a whirlwind of energy, charm, and a philosophy they call WadiLyf.

“WadiLyf is a state of mind,” they tell us. Its inception? The naming ceremony of DonSam Wadi, where Donald proposed to Samantha, offering his love and a world of possibilities. With the addition of Higher Wadi, they’ve solidified their corner of Eastside Slowjamastan. “We have so many ideas and hopes for the future of WadiLyf,” they explain. “We hope you will indulge us and join us in cultivating something positive and beautiful! WadiLyf is like an onion with many layers, constantly evolving, who knows what comes next…”

For those who’ve followed the micronation circuit, this is their third MicroCon. Las Vegas was their baptism by fire, arriving green but bold, strutting through casinos and shooting escalator videos that left onlookers both bewildered and delighted. Joliet brought a different rhythm—a more relaxed vibe, a chance to see the younger generation take the reins and introduce new nations, a sight that left them inspired.

What are they looking forward to this time? “Seeing old friends, welcoming new faces to the micronation community and possibly doing something crazy for all to enjoy!! If you know, you know.” And, ever the loving caretakers, they also bring along Buddy, their famously grouchy yet endearing companion, ready for road trips and, of course, fries.

The Sultan of Slowjamastan, in true host fashion, weighed in: “Welcoming Donald and Samantha to MicroCon 27 is like opening the door to a surprise party where everyone ends up dancing. They embody the adventurous spirit of micronations, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have them here.”

If MicroCon is a mosaic of imagination, wit, and audacity, then DonSam Wadi and Higher Wadi are a splash of color you’ll never forget.
